A lonely Cordobes-ian

I am writing to you; alone. Since Steve and Nadia have left me, I have been wallowing in self-pity, unable to feel the same exuberance I used to. For the 8 hours that you have been away (of which 7 I have been asleep), I have longed for the good old days when we used to eat empanadas and drink fernet together while we discussed Caipivara hunting techniques and laughed at proud Canadians, overzealous old people and overzealous proud people. I miss you guys.

Moving on. I am here in Cordoba and I have decided to break the strike and hit you guys with the first mini-blog so as to hopefully coincide with a Buenos Aires posting, and bring you the phenomenon of simultaneous blogging. Tonight I am headed to a wedding, which is supposedly going to be a traditional ´Arabe´ event. This is the word for Lebanese over here. It should be great, however owing to the ridiculous time schedules of Argentians, the groom will probably only be getting his peck at midnight (I hope he can hold out the whole night for the naughty hour). Then tomorrow I am heading back to the Campo, to hillbilly-things-up with the Gustavos in the countryside. Hopefully I will make contact with my other compadres on Tuesday morning, where we can reunite, although Steve isn´t answering my phone calls so I am thinking that they are probably making the best of their time without me.

I look forward to what Steve has to say about my team, because without doubt he will find a way to work it in. At this juncture I would like to express how great a team Arsenal is. They are really, really cool, and great, wow. Hey. Wow. Great. (Arsenal 74 points, Man U 81).

Anyways, I hope this inspires you people to make comments, because we like them. That is infact the reason for this blogpost, to beg for your comments. No matter how simple they may be. I want to send a shoutout to that Damn Cat, who has officially begun his own blog within our comments page. Nice. Setting the example.

Ciao

El Fausto

Oh poor El Faust. I think it's touching how much you obviously miss the other 2/3 of Los Gringos. Never mind, you'll be together again soon. Personally, I think you should be enjoying this time alone! Y'all got a LOOOOOOOOOONg time to go before you hit SA's shores once more. Eat what you want to, drink yourself silly, and dance around insulting Arsenal. That's what I'd do. See?! this time around I BEAT Thatdamncat. A personal mention would be nice.

I was just watching (part-watching, part reading this blog) a movie on m-net when it stopped in mid-sentence and the screen went black. Whenever that happens, I can't help but wonder if maybe the world (or even just Joburg) is ending, and whatever disaster is causing it is yet to reach us in Cape Town. Is that weird? Oh well, about 20 minutes have gone by since The Great Blackness, and I'm still here so I suppose it might be something as innocent as load shedding.

Thanks, El Fausto, for the shout-out, and greetings from Cape Town. Bad luck with the Simultaneous Blogging by the way, but don't feel too ashamed - I hear the simultaneous blog post is actually a myth, and somebody always posts second.

I feel a bit like a traveler myself this evening... Having come from Orknie (where we decided one is not supposed to Ork) to Cape Town in a day. Granted that doesn't sound quite as glamorous as "Cordoba". Still, traveling is traveling. Especially when you get to see your fellow travelers' floaters. As we did.

Update: 10 minutes later, m-net is still broadcasting a high-definition black scene.

By the way, just shout when my blog-within-your-blog starts to feel intrusive, e.g. when I start posting my own photos within the comments, and I'll go get my own space. For now, I'm content.

Oh - Moosekaka, your chirp about work/life etc did not go unnoticed, and I say to you "There are 24 hours in a day, and then there's the night".

Oh Cat, in the words of El Lex, WHATEVER. 24 hours a day se voet. And would appreciate it if you did not make public mention of floaters, whether in family blog on no! You never know who might get hold of this blog: there are sickos out there who google 'floaters' in those night-time hours outside of those 24 in a day... And they were NOT my floaters. That leaves 3 (2 of whom live in YOUR house!). Ahem. Nuff said. And by the way, it's not Joburg that's ending (?), it's M-Net. They've had some beaut stuff-ups of late. Did you check the other channels? And yes, it is weird. And fatalistic. And weird.

Thank you for breaking the strike Fausto, there isn't much else to do on our multitude of public holidays other than reading your blog posts (well there are a couple of things.) Update from this side: the mini-olympics was a success, except for Tyrone and I, representing Plain Old Guinea, who got hustled out of the victory in the last event by an amazing mystery pool player (Ricky Bobby was his name, it really was.) The games weren't the same without you guys though. I now call upon the other half of this threesome (I'm not good with fractions) to continue blogging.

Adam, everybody knows (it's nursery-school maths) that one half of a threesome is a one-and-a-halfsome.

How could you forget?

So I stand beside you in calling upon the aforementioned one-and-a-halfsome to post some shit! They had a good bitch about things, but now there's nothing upon which for us to comment! Oh the indignation of our circumstances. Flop.

Gringo son, do not play with lava. I beg you. Be a good boy now. And I have looked and looked and can't find any reference to weight gain. And checked the photies just in case but no you still the same. Nanuk had an incident with a jack russel this evening on our walk and guess who came out worse? A very embarrassed male jackie.

Love your blogs
